Maintenance Engineer / Fitter
Salary: 38,000 45,000 per annum (DOE)
Shift: Day Shift
Location: Ellesmere Port
Total Staff Services are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer / Fitter to join a busy industrial site in Ellesmere Port.
This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and confident in fault finding within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Repair and maintenance of cranes, hoists, pumps, and motors
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all plant equipment
Mechanical and basic electrical fault finding, diagnosis, and repairs
Responding to breakdowns and completing reactive maintenance
Inspecting, testing, and monitoring equipment to ensure safe operation
Coordinating and supervising external contractors when required
Supporting production and operational teams
Maintaining maintenance logs and ensuring compliance with regulations
Working to strict health and safety standards at all times
General factory and building maintenance duties
Requirements / Desirable Skills:
Recognised qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (e.g. NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC/HND)
Previous experience in a similar role within manufacturing or heavy industry
Electrical fault finding experience (ideally three-phase systems)
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (advantageous)
Basic knowledge of PLC systems, motors, drives, and electrical drawings
Experience working with overhead cranes/hoists
Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems
Comfortable working at heights (up to 10m)
Flexible to work overtime, weekends (approx. 67 per year), and occasional callouts
Full UK driving licence
Additional Information:
Day shift role
Weekend inspection work required approximately 67 times per year
Occasional callouts may be required
